Dr. Paramita Roy has been practicing dentistry since 2009. She also served as an adjunct professor at the UNC School of Dentistry from 2009 to 2011. In 2011, Dr. Roy moved with her family to the Bay Area where she worked in both dental academia and private practice.
As a dentist, Dr. Roy wanted to spend the necessary time with her patients and establish a long-term, holistic view of their oral healthcare needs. So, she established a practice that was small by design. Here, Dr. Roy can take the time to listen, explain, and educate her patients, emphasizing prevention. She never takes her patient’s questions and anxiety lightly.
Dr. Roy has been involved in social work through several organizations like the Rotary Club. She provided dental checkups and oral health education in rural and underdeveloped areas.
Dr. Roy has a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. When she is not at her practice, Dr. Roy loves spending time with her husband and kids. She also likes travelling, having traveled quite extensively in Europe and parts of Asia. In addition, Dr. Roy loves to read and enjoys gardening.
Dr. Roy completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at New York University College of Dentistry whose dental students are taught to treat one of the most dynamic, diverse, andchallenging patient populations. After NYU, Dr. Roy did a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC. This was a rigorous year of hospital-based dentistry in one of the top GPR programs in the US, dealing with very demanding cases. Dr. Roy participates in several seminars and attends regular continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest advances in the field of dentistry.
Learning the business of dentistry has been enjoyable for me. And because I came from a non-dental background, I understand the patient’s perspective. This helps me implement new techniques and promotions to continually improve patient experience, which I also enjoy doing.
I feel privileged to work with my sister (Dr Roy) and a great team! I am happy to answer patients’ questions, help resolve concerns and make their visits positive. Although my responsibilities include finance, human resources, marketing, and other non-clinical parts of the business, they don’t keep me from enjoying my interactions with our wonderful patients every day and hearing them compliment our team for their great work. I love to travel with my family and enjoy volunteering for causes close to my heart.
